Hello Fellow Phi Pi members,
August has been an exciting month. Phi Pi Chapter was honored with three awards this month from Sigma’s Region 5. We received an award in each of the three Call to Action categories for this biennium. The chapter was recognized for our work in Conservation, Economics, and the promotion of Technology.
As our kids return to school and we begin the time of putting summer behind us, we return to our daily grind. The Phi Pi Membership Committee works to provide opportunities for us to unwind and care for ourselves. This month we hosted virtual Yoga. The Membership Involvement continues to develop additional ways for our members to participate virtually in your membership with Phi Pi and Sigma.
President-Elect Dr. LeAnne Prenovost and I had the pleasure of joining Chamberlain University graduates in Chicago this week, and it was wonderful meeting all the Phi Pi members there. I was especially grateful to meet one Phi Pi member who graduated with her RN-BSN at 67 years young. Linda Avary RN BSN it was an honor to meet you and your lovely family. I was honored to welcome you to the society and be able to place your honor stole and honor cords on you.
If you did not know it already, Phi Pi will offer a full sponsorship for one member to attend the Biennium in San Antonio. Please see the link below to enter for your chance to win. Additionally, in conjunction with Sigma International, ten lucky students from the San Antonio Campus of Chamberlain University will join us for the convention's opening day.
As we wrap up the month of August, there are many activities in the coming months. The Membership Committee plans several activities. Please read the monthly newsletters and watch our social media to find the planned activities each month. As your chapter president, I serve on the SoCal Odyssey Consortium Board of Directors, and the annual conference is coming up on the first weekend of October. Before I head down to San Diego for that conference, I will have the pleasure of representing the chapter at the National League for Nursing Education Summit in Washington, D.C., and in November, I will be one of the two delegates to the House of Delegates for the 47th Biennial Convention of Sigma Theta Tau.
I want to personally thank you for your continued membership in Phi Pi and I look forward to seeing you at one of the membership events or conferences.
-Allen Perez
